DAV Public School, Barrackpore was founded in April 2011 as a project school in a rented building. Nestled in the historic city of Barrackpore, the institution has flourished under the pristine guidance and ideals of the Arya Samaj. In June 2014, the school came under the direct control of the DAV College Managing Committee (DAV CMC), further strengthening its vision and administrative framework. Beginning its journey with around 600 students, the school has steadily grown and now proudly nurtures nearly 1,240 students, supported by a dedicated team of 42 teachers and 21 non-teaching staff members.
The school represents an exemplary blend of ancient Indian values and modern educational practices. It harmoniously integrates the richness of Indian traditions with advancements in science and technology, ensuring the holistic development of its students. The DAV movement was initiated as a tribute to Swami Dayanand Saraswati after his demise. A group of enlightened and devoted followers, driven by a profound sense of social commitment, founded the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Managing Society in 1886. In the same year, the first DAV school was established in Lahore, with Lala Hansraj, later revered as Mahatma Hansraj, serving as its honorary Headmaster. Since then, the movement has expanded from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and other parts of the world encompassing a vast network of over 900 institutions.DAV Public School, Barrackpore, takes immense pride in being a part of this illustrious legacy.
